I remember way back when I always eat unripe Mango with bagoong before going home after class. A food stall outside our school sells this, already peeled and ready to eat, pierced with a barbecue stick, soaked in water inside a glass jar to preserve so it wont dry up. The vendor prepares them early so when a customer buys, they'll just have to pick it from the jar and with a condiment of choice, either bagoong, salt, fish sauce or soy sauce.
Aside from mangoes, singkamas (Jicama or native turnip) is also sold.
But now we don't have to go to wet markets, parks or schools to look for it. "MANGO-ONG" is a kiosk inside malls that sells both unripe mangoes and singkamas.
Prices:
Carabao mango (with 1tbsp bagoong) Php20.00
Singkamas (with 1tbsp bagoong) Php10.00
